The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is an executive agency of HM Revenue & Customs. Most, though certainly not all, of the work we do involves compiling and maintaining the rating and council tax lists for England and Wales. It is these lists that form the basis for the business rates and council tax bills issued by local councils. For more information on our work, visit the Valuation Office Agency homepage.

Travelling by Car

From the North (Glasgow, Edinburgh)

1. M74 off at junction 15 (Moffat).
2. Take the A701 to Dumfries.
3. At Tinwald Downs Roundabout (Tesco Extra filling station) take the second exit onto the A701.
4. At roundabout take the second exit onto the Edinburgh Road (A701).
5. At roundabout take second exit and follow road into town.

From the South (Carlisle, M6)

1. M74 off at Gretna and follow the A75 for Dumfries.
2. At roundabout just past the Little Chef take second exit.
3. At next roundabout take the second exit.
4. At next roundabout take the first exit onto the Edinburgh Road (A701).
5. At next roundabout take second exit and follow road into town.

Travelling by Public Transport

1. Rail to Dumfries Station.
2. Take exit onto Lovers Walk.
3. Turn left onto Newall Terrace (church on corner).
4. Follow Newall Terrace until you come to a pedestrian crossing.
5. Cross over onto Great King Street. Office is at the end of the street on the right hand corner.
