Statutory Valuation Team
The role of the District Valuer (DV) in providing valuations for national taxation and other purposes has been in existence since 1910 when the Inland Revenue first set up the Valuation Office.
The role of the District Valuer is well known and understood by taxpayers, their agents and many Government Departments. The DV assists its clients by providing an objective, fair, impartial and professional customer-facing property valuation service that, when required, interfaces with taxpayers, agents and other interested parties in an open and transparent way. The DVs role in the property valuation process for national taxation also ensures there is consistency between the different taxes dealt with by different business streams within HMRC.
The work of the District Valuer is now undertaken within the Statutory Valuations Team (SVT) within the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). The VOA is the major employer of surveying and valuation professionals in the public sector.
