Business Rates – Rental Information

If you've received a form entitled ‘Request for information’, and want to complete it online, or require another copy, the information below will help.

On the front page of the form, in the bottom left corner, you will find a four digit number, with a 'VO' prefix.

If you have a VO 6003, you can complete it online at Business Link.

If your form has a different number, you cannot currently complete it online, but you can download an additional copy as a pdf. A list of the all ‘Request for Information’ forms, including an indication of the type of business property can be found at the bottom of this page.

The information you provide is used to ensure that assessment of rateable values is correct. Local authorities use rateable values to calculate business rate bills.

What happens if I don't return the form?

If you fail to return the form, properly completed, within the 56 day period you will be liable to a penalty, starting at £100 and increasing as more time elapses. View more information on Civi Penalty here...

Do you own or occupy a number of properties?

The VOA’s Rating Contact Scheme is tailor-made for owners or occupiers of multiple sites. It's designed specifically to make it easier for you to submit property details and rental information to us, by aiming to remove the need for completion of multiple forms. Many companies are already saving time and money by supplying information in this manner.

The most commonly used form, requesting rental and lease information.

Rent Review Form

Additional Information

This form is used to seek further information or clarification following receipt of another form, asking individual and specific questions, so you can not download a copy. Please contact your local office for this form.

A request for trade information, this form is mainly targeted towards multiple operators who have already supplied rental details.

This form has a wide application, including car parks, and requests rental and trade information. Do not use this form if another, more specific, form is available. It must not be used instead of forms VO 6031 to VO 6035.

Used predominantly for cinemas, theatres and bingo halls, asking for specific information related to gross receipts and tenure information.

Receipts – General With Expenditure

This has a wide application. The form requests information regarding receipts, expenditure, and some tenure information. Please do not use this form if another, more specific, form is available: for example it must not be used instead of VO 6025 or VO 6056.
