Proposal to alter to 2005 Rating List - Part A

PART A - DETAILS OF THE PROPERTY/RATING ASSESSMENT

1. Address of the Property to which the proposal relates
The full address of the property will have been entered for you as shown in the Rating List based on the choices you have made when you entered the Billing Authority reference number and when you confirmed the address to begin your appeal.  Check that this address is the correct one for the property.  

DO NOT PROCEED WITH YOUR PROPOSAL IF IT IS NOT CORRECT.  Seek advice from your local Valuation Office.

2. Description of the property to which the propsal relates
The description of the property (e.g. "Shop and premises") will have been entered for you. This is shown in column 2 of the rating list and on a "Notice of Alteration" issued by the Valuation Officer. It may also be shown on your rates bill.

3. Name of Occupier
Enter the name of the present occupier of the property shown at 1 on the form.

4. Address of the Occupier
The full postal address of the occupier of the property should be provided here if it is different from that shown at 1 on the form. Otherwise enter "as 1".

5. Rateable value
The rateable value of the relevant assessment you have chosen will be entered for you. The rateable value is shown in column 5 of the rating list and on a "Notice of Alteration" issued by the Valuation Officer. It is also shown on your rates bill.

6. Effective Date
The effective date is the date from which a new or altered liability to rate payment starts. The date that has been entered here for you, is the date shown in the rating list for the assessment you have chosen . If the proposal relates to the original entry shown in the Rating List this will be 1st April 2005 and the word "COMPILED" will be shown instead of the date. If you disagree with the effective date shown in the rating list or "Notice of List Alteration" indicate this in part B of the form.

7. Name of the owner if not owner/occupied
If the property is occupied by the owner you should select the tick-box. If the property is not occupied by the owner please enter the name of the owner of the property in the space provided. If you do not know the name of the owner, please enter "Not known".

8. Owners address
The full postal address of the owner should be entered if it is different from that shown for 1 and 4. Otherwise enter "as 1" or "as 4" as appropriate. If you do not know the address of the owner please enter "Not known".

9. Rent or licence fee

If the property is not occupied by the owner you must state whether any rent or licence fee is paid in respect of the occupation. Please select the "Yes" or "No" option as appropriate. If you select "Yes" you must also state the amount of rent or licence fee that is payable and how often that amount is paid. Preferably the amount stated should be per year in order to fully comply with the legal requirements for making a proposal. It would assist the valuation officer to consider your proposal if you also state the date the current rent first became payable (probably at the start of the lease/licence or at a subsequent rent review) and the date the next review of the rent is due to take place.

10. Billing Authority
The name of the Billing Authority which collects rates on the property will be entered for you.

11. Reference Number
The reference number of the assessment as is shown in column 1 of the rating list and on a Notice of Alteration issued by the Valuation Officer is entered here automatically. It may also be shown on your rates bill.

12. NLPG UPRN Number

The National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) Unique Property Reference Number is used by local authorities to uniquely identify your property and has been entered for you.
