These lists came into force on 1 April 2000 and applied until 31 March 2005. New rating lists were published on 1 April 2005.

 Postcode search
An alphanumerical code issued by the Royal Mail to help identify particular geographical areas. Your postcode is the last part of your address. Usually a single code will apply to approximately 15 properties but may occasionally relate to an individual property. If you only enter the first half of the postcode in your search criteria, you are likely to retrieve a far higher number of properties in your search results.
 Billing authority
If you know the name of your billing authority you may enter it here and search for all properties within that authority. The billing authority is sometimes referred to as the local authority, or local council. Entering the first half of your postcode in the bottom box will identify which billing authority covers your property.
 Billing authority reference
A reference number used by billing authorities to identify your property. This is often a several digit, alphanumeric number, though they can vary in length between different authorities. As each authority independently sets up its own reference system, the number may not necessarily be unique.
 Multiple Occupier Code
If you are a member of the VORC (Valuation Office Ratepayer Contact) scheme, your business will occupy numerous properties, possibly across a wide geographical area. By entering the multiple occupier code you may call up all the properties your business occupies, irrespective of what Billing authority they fall under. Only subscribers to the VORC scheme will have a multiple occupier code.
 Special Category Code
These codes, produced by the VOA, identify specific types of properties, for example hairdressing/beauty salons or kiosks. If you would like to search for a specific property type and know the special category code, you can do so here. If you are unsure of the special category code, you can click on the information icon for a full list of codes and their descriptions.
 NLPG UPRN reference number
All the local authorities hold addresses in a Local Land and Property Gazetteer. These were all brought together to form the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG). The gazetteer adheres to strict address formats and holds unique reference numbers for each property. The aim is to eventually use these addresses and unique reference numbers throughout all local authority databases for the purposes of local taxation, planning and building control. If you know your NLPG reference number, you can use this number to uniquely identify your property.
Welsh flag
If you wish to view this application in the Welsh language, you may do so by clicking on the Welsh flag on the first page of the application. Once clicked, all text from thereon in, will be displayed in Welsh. The Welsh flag only appears on the first page of the application, and this is the only place where you can switch between the Welsh and English language.
